We are excited to announce that GoodDollar’s first-ever grant award will benefit a special network of women in Zimbabwe.
They are part of the Zimbabwe Endometriosis Support Network, a non-profit organization dedicated to spreading awareness and generating funds for women diagnosed with endometriosis, a debilitating reproductive condition that affects as many as 1 in 10 women.
The $5,500 grant will enable the 100 women in the Zimbabwe Endometriosis Support Network to use their G$ either to buy mobile minutes or to withdraw Zimbabwean currency via BitFlex kiosks.
BitFlex, a project focused on bridging the gap between fiat and crypto currencies in Africa, is working with regulators in Zimbabwe to build the country’s first crypto exchange. It has previously received community grants from Celo and Polygon.
We envision the GoodDollar Grant program as both an important way to help the financially excluded participate in the digital economy and a means for advancing the use of G$’s universal basic income (UBI) as a community currency.
