American Travis Miller has been selected as GoodDollar’s first #GoodPerson, as he has been nominated by many team members for his willingness to help newcomers on Telegram. He has sought to accelerate both the adoption of GoodDollars and use cases by writing how-to guides and establishing a marketplace on Facebook.

What excites you about GoodDollar? What doesn’t excite me about GoodDollar? I’ve been a part of the crypto/blockchain community for some time now, and the GoodDollar project really stands out to me. Finally we have a project that is easy for everyone to use and provides a basic income to anyone who needs it. More than that, GoodDollar enables us to rethink inequality levels within the crypto world, which is dominated by “whales”, as this project affords everyone a fair share of cryptocurrency. Additionally, the GoodDollar wallet’s ease of use coupled with its ability to go to the mass market and achieve basic income at scale is a thrilling prospect.

How have you been active within the GoodDollar community? As with any community, I try to contribute in whatever way I can. I may not have the best technical skills, but I do have a decent understanding of all things blockchain/crypto. I’ve developed a good understanding of this over time by helping friends and family get set up using exchanges, software wallets, interacting with smart contracts, and so on. This has allowed me to relate with beginners in the space and help explain things in a way that they can understand easily. I have created a simple guide to help with a common issue, and I plan to create more like it in the future. Anytime someone has an issue in the GoodDollar community, I try to reach out to them and help them with their problem.

What do you think are the key challenges for GoodDollar to be successful, and how can the community help to solve them? Some people would think this is a tough question, but I disagree. I think the GoodDollar team has done an excellent job setting up the community for success. The protocol, tokenomics, and technical aspects of the project seem to be sufficient. Now, it’s up to the community to create utility for the G$ and use it. They can do this by offering goods and services in exchange for G$ and of course by sharing the project with their friends and family. We need to establish places where G$ can be used to buy and sell goods and services, which is why I have set up the “GoodDollar Marketplace” on Facebook.

Why did you start the GoodDollar marketplace? I started the group to increase the overall reach of the GoodDollar community, and to provide more utility for the GoodDollar. I have seen the GoodDollar community grow rapidly over the past few weeks. Starting from just a few hundred members, to now thousands of community members across the globe. I knew that there was already a presence on social media sites such as Telegram, Discord, and Reddit so I thought a Facebook Group could add to that presence. My idea was that this “GoodDollar Marketplace” group could provide a place for people all over the world to buy and sell goods and services for G$, on a social media platform that many people already use daily. So far, the community involvement has been great, and I look forward to the continued growth.

What would you say to other users who want to get involved? To those who want to get involved, it has never been easier! Most people already have a Facebook account, so it’s as simple as clicking the “Join Group” button. Once you join the group, you can get involved by interacting with other community members, offering goods and services for sale, or even making your first purchase using G$! Everyone can be a valuable part of the community. Digital services allow us to interact with each other on a global scale. No matter where you are in the world, you can create value for the G$ by offering up your talents or services. I would encourage everyone to tell your family and friends about GoodDollar.

Is there anything else you would like to add? I just want to thank all of the helpful GoodDollar community members that are always participating in conversation. I’m just one of many different people from all over the world who are helping this community expand. Everyone plays a part.

Who would you nominate as GoodPerson / GoodPeople, and why? Please let us know by emailing ollie@gooddollar.org.
